To be a part of the Eastern VA  CERT please follow these steps:

Step 1: Fill out a Volunteer Application - Complete the form and email to certinfova@ gmail.com for more information or questions please email us with your phone number and we will contact you.  Can we link an application form?

Step 2: Complete required FEMA Online Courses

·   IS-100 - Introduction to Incident Command System

·   IS-200 - ICS for Single Resources and Initial Action Incidents

·   IS-317a - Introduction to Community Emergency Response Team (CERTs)

·   IS-700.A: National Incident Management System (NIMS) An Introduction

·   IS-800.C: National Response Framework, an Introduction

Step 3: Complete the CERT Basic Course – includes 20 hours of free training consisting of classroom instruction and hands-on exercises. The course ends with a final exercise where you apply the skills you've learned. Our current CERT program is for adults 18 and over. Attendance at all class sessions is mandatory.

Step 4: Attend monthly meetings (3rd Tuesday of every month from 5:30pm – 8.00pm in White Stone – details and schedule will be provided) and participate in scheduled events, training opportunities, and emergency incidents.
