Provide emergency assistance to survivors in Lancaster County and surrounding areas
• Serve in emergency preparedness, response and recovery roles (before, during,
and after an emergency)
• Supports community outreach including disaster preparedness education and
awareness opportunities in Lancaster County and surrounding jurisdictions
• Other functions (within capability) as directed by the Chief of Emergency Management

Normal Operations
• Support disaster education, initiatives, and community outreach encouraging disaster preparedness, response, and recovery skills
• Support local / regional disaster exercises and drills
• Support special events
• Support traffic control

Emergency Operations
• Reduce impact of hazards through disaster response: Locating and turning off utilities, extinguishing small fires, providing situational awareness to citizens
regarding hazards (downed powerlines, impassable roads, flooding, etc.)
• Emergency Operations Center (EOC) operations (staffing, documentation support, communications, runners, and logistics support)
• On scene augmentation for first responders with rehabilitation and light support
• Disaster Medical Operations (basic first aid and treating life-threatening injuries until professional assistance can be obtained)
• Disaster & Needs Assessment
• Light search and rescue operations
• Crowd & Traffic Control
• Support Disaster Reception Center, Cooling & Charging Stations
• Support Shelter Operations
• Support Pet Shelter Operations
• Helping disaster survivors cope with their emotional stressors
